Frutos, 72, died peacefully on a beautiful Sunday afternoon, on May 5, 2013 in Toronto from complications of diabetes. <br /> <br />Luis believed that life should be lived to its fullest, and so he did! He loved his daughters and grandchildren and was passionate about music, poetry and math. Luis was an intellect and a lover of knowledge. Following the completion of engineering studies at the Universidad Autonoma Chapingo in Mexico and post-graduate studies in the UK and Canada, Luis dedicated his life to teaching in his beloved home country, Belize and in Canada. He felt it was his duty and responsibility to work toward the advancement and betterment of his country, and it was the driving force of his working life. He will be remembered for his generous heart, humble spirit and unwavering desire to make the world a better place. <br /> <br />Luis is predeceased by his wife Maria Elena Frutos Vega from Texcoco, Mexico. He is survived by his daughters Claudia (Ranjan), Patricia (David), and Fatima; grandchildren Hope, Haley, Ryan, Katrina and Amelie; brothers and sisters Amira, Renato, Pastor, Urbelina, Amapola, Amir, Ramon, Edgar and Rosa; former spouse and friend Marjorie; as well as many other family members, friends and students who cared deeply for him. <br /> <br />According to his wishes, Luis will be cremated, and a funeral, internment and celebration of his life will take place in San Ignacio, Belize on Saturday, June 8th, 2013. <br /> <br />If desired, donations to the Belize Natural Energy Charitable Trust (www.bnetrust.org/) may be made in the form of a bank draft in US funds to &quot;BNE Charitable Trust&quot; and forwarded to 38 Westminster Avenue, Toronto, ON M6R 1N4. The Trust will ensure that Luis' wishes to further education for children in Belize will be honoured.</div>
