Mavis Constance Estabrooks
December 7, 1929 - April 19, 2015
Mavis Constance Estabrooks (Dec. 7, 1929 - April 19, 2015) was born in Plaster Rock, New Brunswick, to Constance Angel Gibson and Ernest Hugh MacKay. She married her sweetheart of 3 years, Edgar James Estabrooks, at the age of 17. Together they raised 4 daughters: Constance Higgins, Carol Lapointe, Susan Lawlor, and Gloria Estabrooks. She was predeceased by 4 of her 5 siblings, as well as her husband. Mavis is survived by her 4 daughters, 7 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, 3 great great Grandchildren, and her sister Betty. Throughout her life, she actively pursued knowledge. She loved to read and she constantly challenged herself to grow - even trying to learn French at 80 years of age. She had great courage, and an infinite generosity of spirit. She was passionate in her love of animals, whether it meant taking in stray cats, or being adopted by animals who chose her over their owners. She never turned even a squirrel away hungry.
