George Floras born in Antartikon Greece, on October 17, 1934 passed away on December 8, 2016 at the age 82, while at Trillium Hospital in Mississauga. Beloved husband of 48 years to Irene, and loving father to Anne (Steve) Kotsopoulos, Michael Floras, and Jenny Floras.

He was a proud grandfather of seven. Michael's children Curtis, Kara, Ava and Bailey. Anne's children Peter, Carissa and Michael.

George was the last surviving brother of six siblings. He will be greatly missed but never forgotten as he reunites with brothers Dimitrios, Menelaos, Panagiotis, Periklis and Hristo, and parents Lambros and Gianoula.

His grandkid’s daily adventures and active lives had become his favourite topic of conversation in his retirement. He liked to read and debate current events and had an affinity for history, politics and sports. He particularly liked discussing events around world wars and the sport of hockey. He left his birthplace as a child and spent his youth and early adulthood traveling and taking residence in many European countries. Through his travels he experienced many interesting escapades that he shared with friends and relatives with great fondness, enthusiasm and colour.

He will be remembered as strong and courageous. Always willing to work harder than anyone and ready to face any difficult situation that could arise and someone you could depend on in a time of need.

He was a skilled electrician who worked in the field from the age of 14 until the age of 70 when his health would no longer allow him to labour physically. He remained a IBEW Local 353 Union member until his passing. Even in his retirement he was always known as someone you could turn to for help with all electrical questions.

Special thanks from his family to Dr. Sam Berger. A special man who helped him to be with us for twelve heathy and active years that may not have been. The time he had with his family watching his grandkids grow and play was the greatest gift he could have asked for. To the incredibly caring staff and doctors at Trillium Hospital we thank you for your all your efforts and expertise. We know that singing to patients, telling jokes and making someone's day isn't part of your job description. George and his family will forever be grateful to all of you.

We will always remember Papou.
